And the Stop Motion Video Oscar Goes to…

Best picture? Best video editing? Most creative? Most informative?  Sounds like the Oscars to me!  The Stop Motion Video Oscars, that is.  Ashley Rose teaches both Honors Chemistry and Neuroscience at Lane Tech College Prep in Chicago.  She admits that teaching action potential is not the most interesting topic.  Her students have struggled with this concept in the past.   So, Ashley Rose took a stop motion video project to the next level of fun.  Students were challenged to explain action potential using various materials and some stop motion video skills. Following the production of so many wonderful videos, Rose hosted an Oscars party complete with popcorn, trophies, ballots, candy and even Oscars themed music.

She recently tweeted that the best part of the celebration was that the students were having so much fun, they didn’t even realize they were learning! One student reflected on the big event…

‘I’m really enjoying this class.  It is challenging, but it is also super fun and it is one of the few classes that actually excites me and makes me want to come to school.’
